The Bio-Conservation Club is proud to share the official Report on the Bird Conservation Education Program, funded by International Bird Partners and conducted across three secondary schools in Buea: GHS Bonakanda, Muea High School, and Beps High School.
This comprehensive report, prepared by Anya Dabite Abeh, highlights the positive outcomes of the program, which aimed to:
- Increase students’ knowledge of native bird species and their ecological roles
- Foster positive attitudes toward bird conservation
- Equip students with practical birdwatching and conservation skills
- Establish bird clubs to sustain long-term conservation engagement
Through pre- and post-program evaluations, interactive lessons, and field activities, students demonstrated remarkable growth in awareness, knowledge, and willingness to participate in environmental stewardship.

- 46% increase in student understanding of birds’ ecological roles
- 96% of participants expressed interest in joining a bird club post-training
- Over 400 students engaged across the three schools
- Formation of school bird clubs and proposal for program expansion
