Anya Dabite

Current Leader

Anya is a dedicated PhD fellow in the Department of Geography at the University of Buea, with a profound passion for sustainability and environmental consciousness. His research focuses on the population estimates and migratory routes of Mount Cameroon’s elephants and chimpanzees, utilizing Capture-Recapture Camera Trap Design at the Biomonitoring Unit of the Programme for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (PSMNR) in the Southwest Region of Cameroon.

With over nine years of experience as a community leader, Anya collaborates with NGOs like Earth Charter, UN initiatives, and local organizations such as Adv, BHF, KRCS, Humaniforest, FHap, and Hands Together. He also serves as an analyst with research institutions locally (University of Buea, University of Bamenda, University of Dschang, Biaka University, Landmark University, Catholic University) and internationally (Department of Conservation Biology, Gottingen, Germany), contributing to significant environmental and conservation projects.

Anya excels in grant writing, securing over seven grants individually and more than ten grants as part of collaborative efforts, funding impactful projects in sustainability and community development. He advocates for efficient project management using tools like Asana and Trello, leveraging his proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS and Excel and basic knowledge of R for data manipulation and visualization. Anya also possesses strong public speaking skills, employing frameworks like Monroe’s Motivated Sequence to engage diverse audiences and promote environmental awareness effectively.

Currently, Anya is committed to advancing his academic pursuits while actively participating in conservation efforts that promote biodiversity and sustainable practices in Cameroon and beyond.
